Residents and Fellows Graduation 2018

The Division of Vascular Surgery celebrated its four most recent graduates – Drs. Elizabeth Genovese, Nathan Liang, Gregory Salzler, and Sung Yang – on June 24 at the Pittsburgh Golf Club.

Dr. Genovese will join the faculty in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC; Dr. Liang will join the faculty in the UPMC Division of Vascular Surgery in Pittsburgh; Dr. Salzler will join Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA as an attending surgeon in their Division of Vascular Surgery; and Dr. Yang will return to his residency roots at the University of Cincinnati as an Assistant Professor.

Mohammad Eslami, MD, was also honored with the Henry T. Bahnson Teacher of the Year Award in Vascular Surgery for 2018. And for the fourth consecutive year, Catherine Go, MD, was honored with the David L. Steed Teaching Award in Vascular Surgery for 2018.

Congratulations to all!

Joint Meeting – A Great Success

The 15th Annual Pittsburgh Vascular Symposium and 19th SRES joint meeting took place at the Fairmont Pittsburgh Downtown this past May 24 to 26.

The meeting saw the largest attendance in the history of the symposium with nearly 250 attendees, faculty, and exhibitors descending on Pittsburgh for the 2½ day international conference. Our colleagues from France, who came as part of the 19th Surgical and Radiological Endovascular Symposium, invigorated the meeting with their interesting and unique perspectives and solidified the symposium as a model forum for the exchange of innovative ideas.

This year’s program – including case presentations and debates – featured a multidisciplinary panel of national and international speakers, and leaders in the treatment of vascular disease. In addition to the spirited discussion and thought-provoking presentations, attendees enjoyed a reception at the Andy Warhol Museum on Thursday evening and our French colleagues were treated to a baseball game at PNC Park on Friday.
